The results of a recent retirement survey by the Transamerica Center for Retirement Studies are not a good sign for American workers. Though the majority of people are optimistic that they will have enough money stocked away for retirement, the average worker is far behind their target at this point.

Americans are saving more than they have in the last decade, helped by the overall economic recovery that started in 2009. But for those that think they need at least $1-2 million saved to retire comfortably, they have an average of only $63,000 saved now.
