One of the fastest ways to get into financial trouble in this modern age is to fall victim to a scam. Commonly referred to as phishing, email and other online financial scams continue to affect people all around the world. But learning how to recognize and avoid such scams can be simple, if we just understand more about how they work. For example, a common phishing email will look exactly like it is coming from your bank or credit card. It will have the name of the company in the from line, and the design of the email may look just like emails you have gotten in the past. They may tell you that your password is expired and you need to log in to create a new one. But when you click on the link, you will be sent to a website that looks like your bank’s, but is not. It’s a dummy site meant to capture your login information so that the person or people behind the scam can then steal your identity and drain your funds.
