NEW YORK, N.Y. –Working in Support of Education (w!se) is pleased to announce it has received the 2017 Financial Services Roundtable (FSR) Foundation Award, an annual award given to two organizations by FSR that demonstrate outstanding achievements in promoting financial literacy. The Award includes a generous grant that w!se will use to launch a Financial Literacy Slogan/Social Media Contest during Financial Literacy Month in April 2018.

The Contest will invite students from high schools across the U.S., particularly those participating in w!se’ s Financial Literacy Certification program, to 1) create an inspirational financial literacy slogan and 2) submit an accompanying video explaining the rationale for their slogan and why being financial literate is crucial to financial well-being. The videos will be shared widely on social media during and after Financial Literacy Month, enabling students to become peer influencers. The student whose slogan is selected as the national emblem for financial literacy will win a $1,000 award; the slogan will be featured on a w!se T-Shirt.

The Financial Literacy Certification program is central to w!se’s aim to develop the financial literacy of America’s youth. The program supports personal finance instruction at high schools in 48 states. Through it, students can become Certified Financially Literate™ and earn w!se’s coveted CFL™ when they take and pass w!se’s Financial Literacy Certification Test. The program and Test is supported by Departments of Education in numerous states.

The Financial Literacy Certification program continues to impact students across America.

Keeshawn, a student at Cardinal Spellman High School in NYC, recently said: “Because of the w!se program, I will never forget about the importance of living within your means, budgeting and planning and considering wants vs. needs. I can now talk with my parents and other adults about money in a knowledgeable and educated way.”

“It’s an honor to be the recipient of the FSR Foundation Award,” said w!se President & CEO Phyllis Frankfort Perillo. “We are so excited and eagerly looking forward to the financial literacy slogans and videos that students will create.”
